Target="_blank" isn't valid

My site is XHTML 1.0 Strict and isn't valid with anchors using the attribute target="_blank".

Is it possible to define different targets (just like defining anchors in normal wordpress pages)? I would like to use target=none, so it doesn't use the target attribute. Instead I would like to define my own rel or class name (something like rel="external" or class="external").

Thanks.

Just uncheck "Open links in a new window" and that will be left off.  As for adding stuff to the links, there's a filter called 'widget_twitter_link_attributes' that will let you add or remove attributes, but you'll have to write a little code to use it.  We can help you with that, but it would be paid support.  You can contact me at aaron@xavisys.com if you want to go that route.

Upset at my slow responses recently? Please read my explanation.
