My tweets were showing up correctly if within the " hours ago" window, but when an actual timestamp was displayed it ignored my time settings and always showed GMT time instead of my local time.

 

In my WP settings, I had my time set as "UTC-4" which should correspond to the Eastern Time Zone in the US.  I tried changing it to "New York" (which should also be eastern time zone) and that seemed to fix the issue. 

 

So if you are having this issue, try changing your WP time settings to a corresponding city instead of UTC+/- whatever and hopefully that will fix it.  Just wanted to pass that on.
