Harvard Law’s Program on Negotiation

The Program on Negotiation website was built completely on WordPress and is pretty complex behind the scenes. Xavisys provided integration with an existing custom payment solution and later with CyberSource’s Hosted Order Pages when Harvard decided to switch. Xavisys also provided integration with existing fulfillment centers and procedures and integration with WhatCounts for E-Mail campaigns, which included converting all their existing subscribers to the new system. Xavisys also assisted with the launch of the site on the Harvard network and much more!

Xavisys worked with the Mequoda Group on this project. Mequoda is completely responsible for the design and planning, and Xavisys is responsible for much of the back end programming. Xavisys was totally responsible for integrating with WhatCounts for their E-Mail list, CyberSource for their payment processing, and with three different fulfillment centers. The integration with the fulfillment centers includes handling order and customer imports via file upload, notification E-Mails to the centers when an order is placed or a user changes their profile information, as well as order and customer exports as CSV files.

The site also runs many of the Mequoda Pro plugins, some of which Xavisys has written (to Mequoda standards and best practices). The ones that Xavisys wrote include automated tag management, a settings plugin that keeps live and development settings out of the files for easy deployment from development server to live servers, an offer manager that lets them control prices for their items and alter them based on promotion codes and when they run specials, as well as a plugin that tracks source codes which are used to generate reports to show profitability based on different referring sources.

The original scope of the project has been completed, but additional development is still ongoing. It’s been fun to see how WordPress has been able to meet the needs of this prestigious organization, and so far they love the ease of use that WordPress has given them!
